Weekly Port Fishing Report: October 5–11, 2026

Port striped bass Two reports described large schools of striped bass in the Port basin. One late-afternoon move to the Port produced three limits in 20 minutes; most of the fish were reported as keepers measuring 20 to 30 inches. That outing had started at 5:00 a.m. at Garcia Bend for salmon, where one fish was hooked but lost at the boat. The only reported condition was hot weather after sunrise. A separate hot evening outing found a large basin school and produced four keeper stripers and three shakers in 20 minutes. Several more large schools were marked in the channel, but those fish would not bite. No striper technique was reported. Surface activity A Port observer reported multiple bait boils with estimated 10- to 12-pound stripers breaking at the surface. Sacramento-area salmon Another outing launched at Discovery Park and headed north. Forward-facing sonar showed salmon moving. Anglers used 2-ounce jigs, hooked four salmon, and landed three. No fish were observed rolling at the surface, and the contributor believed the bulk of the run was still coming.

Port and basin One 45-minute outing began around 6:30 p.m. and produced two shaker stripers, two keeper stripers, and one catfish. The two keepers were described as large enough to make the Striper Derby Top 10. A follow-up said spoon jigging in the basin produced the stripers and catfish. Sacramento River salmon A separate Sacramento River trip reported a couple of nice salmon caught while trolling. No exact fishing time, conditions, forage, or additional technique details were provided. Other observations One report said the bass bite had picked up, but did not include a location, catch count, sizes, or technique. Another reported a great day at Pyramid while thanking another angler for Blade Runner spoon tips; the species, catch count, and conditions were not stated. No weather, water-condition, or forage details were reported for the week.

Fall Striper Derby Saturday morning anglers found a large school of striped bass in the Port basin, but the fish were reported as shakers. After a large ship departed, one boat ran to Liberty in search of bigger fish but did not find them. The anglers returned to the basin and landed one fish that placed just outside the top ten. Derby results The winning striper measured 28¾ inches, and the second-place fish measured 28 inches. A follow-up comment confirmed that no salmon were caught. No total catch count, exact fishing times beyond the morning, weather, water conditions, forage, or fishing techniques were reported. Use these observations as a general starting point and check current Port conditions before launching.
